Tenor opening

We are holding auditions for one tenor for the two final programs in our 2018-19 season, “Island Baroque” (March 22 & 23) and “CrosSing Borders: Emerging Latinx Voices” (May 17 & 19). We are looking to establish a relationship with whomever is selected to continue performing with us through 2019-20.
We are looking for candidates with a strong and enthusiastic work ethic and extraordinary musical abilities.
Requirements include:
  • Flexibility to switch between musical styles and sing both as a soloist and ensemble member.
  • Solid singing diction skills in a variety of languages. Familiarity with Spanish variants, non-standard Latin, or Native American languages will be given strong consideration.
  • Special consideration will be given to singers with strong, demonstrable connections with Latinx culture and community, and singers from populations currently underrepresented in classical music.
We are a project-based ensemble. Our per-project rate for our 2018-19 programs is $350 per singer (3 rehearsals and 2 performances). This is a substantial increase from our 2017-18 season ($200 per project) and we are projecting a similar rate increase for our 2019-20 season.
We are based in the Twin Cities and would prefer to work with local musicians since we frequently have performances outside of our regular season, particularly through the MPR Class Notes program.
To apply, please email a current resume and two audio or video recordings in contrasting styles to info@bordercrossingmn.org before December 18. Applicants may then be contacted for an in-person audition.
